Maybe this is why I find romantic relationship dance so frustrating. I mean I am yet to find a set book of 'rules' that I can pick up and apply. And I am all about seeking experts to give me guidance, input, or advice on how I should handle a relationship with a specific guy. But honestly when you are dealing with two people and all that comes with it, the best expert can't forsee what will be. Yet I still try to find the program, procedure, guide, that will make it all a little less wobbly.
So naturally when I came across this article, I was intrigued. "Two companies, Basisnote and Scientific Match, are developing technology to match couples based on the genetic components of the human immune system -- and their odor."
Apparently people are attracted to those who have an opposite "histocompatiblity gene" then them. What that means? Not really sure, but I think it means what my girl Paula Abdul has been saying for quite some time, "Opposites Attract."
Here's how it works, you order an online test that arrives a couple days later. You swab your cheek and the sample is tested in a machine that tells you a code. Based on that code, the 'experts' know if you are compatible with a person.
Ok seriously? I am pretty sure that if you ask the guy you are dating for a cheek swab, you might as well admit you are on the deep side of coo-koo. Or can you imagine being paired with a guy that a computer told you, you were genetically matched to be with?
As much as I am not into the guessing game, (And I know what those of you who are married are saying right now, "that is the fun part." The guessing game is only fun in the rearview mirror, but we can talk about that another time.) I think I will pass on the DNA sampling.
