Last weekend I was in Los Angeles for the Power of Voice Speaking Summit put on by Norma T. Hollis and Speakers Etcetera. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about the speaking circuit and meet other professional speakers. I flew into Los Angeles Thursday night because I was due at KJLH, Stevie Wonder’s radio station for an interview early the Friday morning.
Well apparently a water main broke just outside my terminal. As a result there was 2 ½ feet of water in the road and the arrivals area turned into a parking lot. My crafty taxi driver drove through the short term parking lot shaving a good forty-five minutes off what ended up being a one hour ordeal. If felt sorry for my dad because he is the type that will check on his daughters until we have safely arrived at my final destination. I must have talked to him at least three times during the taxi ride which would have normally taken twenty minutes. So my dad stayed up until 12:30 am. Thank you Dad!
More on the conference and my trip to LA soon!
